Blue toes

This is a first for me. I got bruised toes from skiing last weekend! It was so worth it though. It was the perfect weekend to go to Baker. Everyone was there for the Legendary Banked Slalom so I got to see my friends, and we had fresh pow all weekend! Sunday was blue bird with 7 inches new! And despite the fact that I had never skied pow before I was killing it! Figured out powder skiing by day two. Did a little snowboarding too. Took the new T Rice board out on Sunday afternoon and hiked Hemispheres with Emily Dell. It was hard to leave, but coming back to Maui isn't so bad. Went surfing this morning, and there were some good waves, but I got a pretty good goose egg on my brow from my board. That's the breaks I guess.

Spirit of Lahaina

Some more old ones. Went on a dinner cruise with the roommates and Nicole's friends Erica and Suzy. Had a blast! Totally recommend going with these guys, Spirit of Lahaina is the name. Great music and Hula dancing, good drinks and Amazing food. The crew is really nice too. We went back a second time and got to see some whale action even.

Long Tail No Longer

Some old pictures I haven't shared yet. For a while now I have wanted to cut my hair, but by no means did I think I would go this drastic. Thanks to instyle.com I found that this short hair wouldn't look so bad. My friends pushed me to cut it this way, so I did. Not that I give into peer pressure or anything. But I am so happy with it!

Baby got Humpback

I finally feel like I am experiences Maui, and not just living here. It's been a busy week, camping in Hana, dinner cruise, biking, paddle boarding, and whale watching! Maui is a beautiful place, so many things to do and see. I've met some good people lately too. Nicole's friend Jonathan invited us to come out on the dinner cruise of the boat he captains, and also the whale watching. It's good to know people.
These creatures are magnificent! They are like huge puppies. They are curious and playful.

VEP

This is where I work.
Vintage European Posters.
"They are all ORIGINAL posters." Like I haven't said that a million times. But it's true, we sell antique posters that are sometimes older than the first world war. Actually a lot of them are.

This was the hike to the "M" in Missoula.

Blisss

This magazine was laying around the house, left by a past renter. I picked it up and started reading. Right away I was sucked into the graphics and the clever writing. This one article in particular got my attention. It starts out with a poem:

There was a man named Skinner
Who took a young lady to dinner.
At a quarter to nine
They sat down to dine;
At twenty to ten it was in her.
The dinner? No, Skinner.
Skinner was in her before dinner.

There was a fellow named Tupper
Who took a fine lady to supper.
At a quarter to nine
They sat down to dine,
And at twenty to ten it was up her.
Not the supper. Not Tupper.
It was that son-of-a-bitch Skinner!
-Anonymous, 1911-1948

I laughed so hard when I read this. And the rest of the interview. This artist Skinner is super funny. And creative.
I thought it was interesting though, his art reflects "massive-scale horror of the world through the eyes of a kid who was reacting to it." I've been thinking more of late about doing stuff to reach out, volunteer or whatever I can. I am a pretty selfish person and it would be good to spend at least a small portion of my day thinking about other people. So in one small way I am going to help. I am saving all our cans and taking them to the recycle center. The money I get from them I will donate, each month to a charity my housemates and I agree on.
