Blisss

This magazine was laying around the house, left by a past renter. I picked it up and started reading. Right away I was sucked into the graphics and the clever writing. This one article in particular got my attention. It starts out with a poem:

There was a man named Skinner
Who took a young lady to dinner.
At a quarter to nine
They sat down to dine;
At twenty to ten it was in her.
The dinner? No, Skinner.
Skinner was in her before dinner.

There was a fellow named Tupper
Who took a fine lady to supper.
At a quarter to nine
They sat down to dine,
And at twenty to ten it was up her.
Not the supper. Not Tupper.
It was that son-of-a-bitch Skinner!
-Anonymous, 1911-1948

I laughed so hard when I read this. And the rest of the interview. This artist Skinner is super funny. And creative.
I thought it was interesting though, his art reflects "massive-scale horror of the world through the eyes of a kid who was reacting to it." I've been thinking more of late about doing stuff to reach out, volunteer or whatever I can. I am a pretty selfish person and it would be good to spend at least a small portion of my day thinking about other people. So in one small way I am going to help. I am saving all our cans and taking them to the recycle center. The money I get from them I will donate, each month to a charity my housemates and I agree on.

Bears, Tigers and Sharks oh my!

Here fishy fishy.

A day at the Aquarium.

Went to the Maalaea Aquarium on my birthday. Saw these cool fish.

In my backyard. Scurry.

This is a Hawaiian Banana Spider. From what I've read it's not poisonous, but still big and scary looking. Gives me the heeby geebies.
